Progressive Strata Services

Emergency Services

One of our unique services is the provision of an after hours emergency service - so if our office is closed we ensure that you are still looked after for those unexpected emergency repair problems. Our contractors and someone familiar with the Act will assess the problem and arrangements as appropriate will be made. A report is then faxed to our office, a copy of which is forwarded to the Secretary in due course.

This number is provided on a laminated sign for the notice board when we are appointed to manage a scheme.  It is also available to non-resident owners when we are closed, ie when we don't answer the phone it will refer you to them with a message on that number.

Emergency situations can arise unexpectedly in strata schemes and often require immediate attention. Common issues include water damage, electrical faults, or storm-related impacts to common property.

In NSW, owners corporations are responsible for addressing urgent issues that affect safety or property. Acting promptly can help limit damage and reduce longer-term costs.

Emergency situations are often closely linked to strata insurance. Committees may need to consider whether an incident should be documented for insurance purposes and ensure that appropriate records are kept.

Clear communication during these situations is important. Keeping owners informed and maintaining records of actions taken can assist with both compliance and future decision-making.

While emergencies cannot always be avoided, ongoing maintenance and regular inspections can reduce risk over time and help schemes respond more effectively when issues arise.
